Creative Analytics FAQs

Basic Understanding

Q1: What exactly does the Hook Score measure?
A: Hook Score measures how effective your ad's opening seconds are at capturing viewer attention compared to your other ads. Higher scores indicate openings that prevent viewers from scrolling past your content.

Q2: How often is the analytics data updated?
A: Creative Analytics refreshes data approximately every 4 hours. The last update time is displayed in the top right corner of the dashboard.

Q3: Can I export analytics data to share with my team?
A: Yes. Click the "Export to CSV" button in the upper right corner of any analytics view to download the complete dataset for further analysis or sharing.

Q4: What's the difference between Watch Score and average watch time?
A: Watch Score is our proprietary metric that compares viewer retention across your ads, while average watch time is the raw duration viewers spend on your content. Watch Score helps identify which ads hold attention better relative to others.

Q5: How do I know which creative elements are driving my Click Score?
A: Compare ads with high and low Click Scores by reviewing their visual elements, calls-to-action, and overall messaging. Filter by Click Score in the dashboard to easily view your highest and lowest performers.

Data Connections

Q6: Which ad platforms can I connect to Creative Analytics?
A: Currently, we support Meta (Facebook/Instagram), with TikTok and Google integration coming soon. Check our updates for the latest platform additions.

Q7: Why aren't all my Meta ads showing up in Creative Analytics?
A: Only ads that have been running for at least 24 hours with sufficient impressions (generally 1,000+) will appear in analytics. Also check that your account connection is active and has proper permissions.

Q8: Do I need to reconnect my ad accounts regularly?
A: Meta connections typically remain active for 60 days before requiring reconnection. You'll receive a notification when reconnection is needed.

Q9: Can I connect multiple ad accounts from the same platform?
A: Yes, you can connect multiple Meta Business accounts to track all your clients or brands in one dashboard.

Q10: How do I disconnect an ad account I no longer need to track?
A: Go to Settings > Connected Accounts > Find the account you want to remove > Click the three dots menu > Select "Disconnect Account".

Using Analytics Effectively

Q11: How can I compare performance across different campaigns?
A: Use the "Group by" dropdown to organize your data by campaign, then sort by your key metrics (Hook Score, Watch Score, Click Score, or ROAS) to see direct comparisons.

Q12: What's a good Hook Score to aim for?
A: Hook Scores are relative to your content library. Generally, scores above 70 indicate strong opening performance, but focus on improving your own baseline rather than chasing an absolute number.

Q13: How do I identify which parts of my ad are causing viewers to drop off?
A: Look at the watch time graph which shows viewer retention over time. Significant drops indicate points where viewers lose interest. Review what happens at those timestamps.

Q14: Can I create custom date ranges for analysis?
A: Yes, use the calendar dropdown to select custom date ranges. You can compare performance across different time periods to track improvement or identify seasonal trends.

Q15: How do I filter out low-performing ads to focus on what's working?
A: Use the "Add filter" function to set minimum performance thresholds (e.g., Click Score > 60) and focus only on your better-performing creative.

Troubleshooting & Technical

Q16: Why are my Hook/Watch/Click Scores showing as zero?
A: Scores require sufficient data to calculate. New ads need at least 1,000 impressions and 24 hours of run time before scores appear. Check that your ad is actively running and spending.

Q17: The performance data in Creative Analytics doesn't match my Meta dashboard. Why?
A: There's typically a 4-6 hour delay in data syncing. If discrepancies persist beyond 24 hours, try disconnecting and reconnecting your Meta account.

Q18: Can I see analytics for ads created outside of Icon?
A: Yes, Creative Analytics tracks all ads in your connected accounts, regardless of where they were created. Ads made in Icon are marked with an icon logo for easy identification.

Q19: How do I set up alerts for underperforming ads?
A: Go to Settings > Alerts > "Add New Alert" > Select your performance thresholds and notification preferences. You'll receive notifications when ads fall below your set parameters.

Q20: Is there a limit to how many ads I can track in Creative Analytics?
A: Your plan determines the number of ads you can track simultaneously. Enterprise users have unlimited tracking, while other plans have specific thresholds. Check your account settings for details.

Strategy & Optimization

Q21: How should I use analytics data to improve my next ads?
A: Identify your highest-performing ads by Hook, Watch, and Click scores. Note common elements (visuals, messaging, CTAs) and incorporate these into your AdGPT prompts for new creative.

Q22: What metrics should I prioritize for different campaign goals?
A: For awareness, focus on Hook and Watch Scores. For consideration, prioritize Watch Score and engagement metrics. For conversion campaigns, emphasize Click Score and direct ROAS/conversion metrics.

Q23: How frequently should I review my analytics?
A: For active campaigns, check weekly at minimum. After launching new creatives, review after 2-3 days to catch early performance signals, then make optimization decisions after 7 days of data.

Q24: Can I use Creative Analytics to A/B test different ad approaches?
A: Yes, create ad variations with single variable changes, then compare their Hook, Watch, and Click scores to identify which elements drive better performance.

Q25: How do I identify which hooks are most effective for my audience?
A: Filter your ads by Hook Score (highest first), then watch the first 3-5 seconds of your top performers to identify patterns in messaging, visuals, or emotional appeals that capture attention effectively.
